چکیده
Cymothoidae are parasitic isopods that infest fishes inhabiting marine, brackish, and fresh-water environments. The systematics, distribution, host specificity of cymothoids is often unknown. In this study, morphological observations molecular analysis using the COI 16S rRNA genes were conducted on a juvenile individual Cymothoa indica infesting wide-banded hardyhead silverside, Atherinomorus lacunosus, an ovigerous female Mothocya collettei hound needlefish, Tylosurus crocodilus, both collected from Okinawa Island, Japan. This first time these two species cymothoid have been in Ryukyu Islands, C. particular represents new northern range limit for its species. That specimen was identified showed almost identical morphology to previously reported juveniles, but it differed numbers robust setae pereopods 6 7. M. high similarity had some traits consistent with affinis. DNA indicated nominal very closely related, studies larger populations needed.

Myripristis murdjan (Beryciformes: Holocentridae) a new host record for Cymothoa indica (Crustacea, Isopoda, Cymothoidae)
Myripristis murdjan, the Pinecone soldierfish, is a common coral-reef species usually found in shallow lagoons and seaward reefs, is nocturnal, and feeds mainly on larger animals of the zooplankton. It is widely distributed from the Red Sea, including the gulf of oman and east of africa, to oceania, being one of the important commercial species in Egyptian markets. In aquatic systems parasites ...
متن کاملReview of the fish-parasitic genus Cymothoa Fabricius, 1793 (Isopoda, Cymothoidae, Crustacea) from the southwestern Indian Ocean, including a new species from South Africa.
The genus Cymothoa Fabricius, 1793 is revised for southwestern Indian Ocean waters. Cymothoa borbonica Schioedte & Meinert, 1884 and C. eremita Brünnich, 1783 are redescribed. Cymothoa rotundifrons Haller, 1880, from Mauritius lacks type material and the host is unknown, therefore it is here relegated to nomen dubium. Cymothoa sodwana sp. nov., from Trachinotus botla (Carangidae), collected fro...

The new cymothoid species, Elthusa winstonisp. n., a branchial parasite of fishes from the family Acanthuridae Bonaparte, 1835 in Hawaii, is described and figured. The female adults can be distinguished by the strongly vaulted body and compacted body shape; rostrum with a small median point; short antennae which are close together (only 6 articles in both antennula and antenna); short and wide ...

Of the 95 known families of Isopoda only a few are parasitic namely, Bopyridae, Cryptoniscidae, Cymothoidae, Dajidae, Entoniscidae, Gnathiidae and Tridentellidae. Representatives from the family Cymothoidae are obligate parasites of both marine and freshwater fishes and there are currently 40 recognised cymothoid genera worldwide. These isopods are large (>6 mm) parasites, thus easy to observe ...
